April 2004 - Exploring the New Drugstore
Paris has hundreds of pharmacies, but only one drugstore…
Like a phoenix, the Drugstore Publicis rose from the ashes of the building at 133, avenue des Champs-Elysées after it was destroyed in a conflagration in September 1972. Following the fire, Publicis founder Marcel Bleustein-Blanchet created a new, modern structure to replace the burned edifice that had housed his company and the decidedly gallicized, upscale rendition of an American cultural icon – the drugstore.
